Abstract | The oxidation behavior in air of two-phase contact material Cu-50Cr alloy prepared by infiltration has been studied at 700, 800 and 900 degrees C. In general, the corrosion rate increases with the increase of temperature approximately following a parabolic curve at 700 and 800 degrees C, but 900 degrees C. The Cr2O3 scales for protection have not been formed on the alloy, instead of a complex scales structure in most cases, which is consisted of a copper oxide layer Cr free on the outermost layer and a metal Cr layer surrounded by copper oxide or double oxide Cu2Cr2O4 on the inner layer. The reason for the complex scales structure is discussed at last. |
