Abstract | Friction stir processing (FSP) was applied to process the as-cast 7075 aluminum alloy which is not easy to deform and obtain fine microstructure, and, the effect of processing parameters on the microstructure of the stir zone was investigated. By optimizing tool design, processing parameters and overlapping the FSP passes, the homogeneous structure with fine equiaxed grains has been obtained in the stir zone. Furthermore, reducing the tool size and increasing the rotation rate resulted in a significant improvement in the microstructural. homogeneity of the stir zone. |
